RegDefense
is designed to be a complete software
solution to fixing registry problems. It
has all the required basic elements of
scanning and fixing basic file problems
like broken DLLs, font files, empty
registry keys and broken shortcut keys.
Removing these theoretically allows the
machine to operate faster. RegDefense
also includes the ability to schedule
scans and fixes so that it is possible to
ensure that the registry never gets bad
again and performance is maintained, with
the all essential backup and restore
functionality so that things can be
rolled back if necessary.
RegDefense also provides an error report log at
the end of each scan and fix which makes it
easier to see where the issues are. The other
main area that RegDefense can be used is
Startup Manager to ensure that the programs
being opened at startup are only those ones
that are required, this speeds up the boot up
process, thus enhancing
performance.

Reimage
is hard to categorize as it isn’t the
typical registry cleaning product but
markets itself as a Window’s platform
repairer. It works by doing a free scan
to identify what issues exist in the
operating system, any operating system
files that need updating and if there are
any Trojans, pop ups, viruses or spam
that need to be deleted. It is an 'All in
One Program' designed to do the whole
lot.
At this point instead of being offered a one
off purchase and download option, Reimage
offers the option to pay for a one time
fix/repair. It is possible to get a refund if
unsatisfied with the result but in general the
service is like employing a remote technician
to do a one-off fix for a fraction of the
price.
The idea being that this will not only correct
all the obvious issues but tune the system in
the process so further scans and fixes are not
required for quite some time, if at all.
The repair is achieved by removing all the
damaged and broken files and replacing them
with ones from Reimage’s ‘spare parts
repository’.
For the individual Reimage seems a bit more
pricey than thoe others but essential and
well worth the cost if you want to get the job
done properly.
